We are discovering the classical music which attempts to escape from its traditional space - the concert hall. With a natural flexibility and its centuries of experience, she enters the unconventional spaces in order to conquer more and more music lovers , the younger ones; and by unconventional spaces we mean the clubs of the 20th century, with the implicit atmosphere - DJ, lights, voices, glasses clangs, atmosphere and dancing. The classical artist adds to the scenery, who in this semi-obscurity, supports his musical pleading surrounded by young people. The discussions are relaxed, the singing goes as well as on the stage of the Carnegie Hal; or a DJ comes and makes the most fantastic combinations of classical pieces, mixed with an efficiency which would arise the jealousy of the most professional musical director.

In short, it talks about the Yellow Lounge, a concept which appeared in Berlin a few years ago. That is, the austere costumes and the elitist atmosphere are left, but the great artists and the repertoire without stylistic boundaries remain. Today, there are Yellow Lounge events throughout the world - in New York, London, Paris or Berlin. Moreover, this kind of performance drew the attention of the label records, so that we are in the position of showing you a double album signed by Deutsche Grammophone this year - The Sound of Yellow Lounge.

It starts with a piece by Sven Helbig, it continues with two minutes of Ondine, a piece of the cycle Gaspard de la nuit by Maurice Ravel, interpreted by Martha Argerich, mixed with one of the Enigma Variations by Edward Elgar, which smoothly becomes Water Games by Maurice Ravel. Then, Brahms - an excerpt from Symphony no.3 and Eric Whitacre with one of his choral plays which modulates towards Ave verum corpus by Mozart. It goes on with Max Richter - Berlin by Overnight, Ljova, Arvo Pärt, Schubert and so on. The flow seems endless, it offers surprises and the feeling that you do not know when a play gives place to another is frequent. This is where the art of the DJ comes in, in our case, a German celebrity - Clé - he offers us unique audio experiences, especially at the level of the stylistic connections - you do not expect to discover a symbiosis between Olafur Arnalds and Johann Paul von Westhoff's music, a composer born in 1656.

Due to the musical adventure and the illustrious names which appear on it, this album The Sound of Yellow Lounge can become one of our favourites, whether we are passionate melomaniacs or we are discovering the classical sounds now. That is why, you can take it into account the Vote for the Best Classical Music Album of 2014 campaign on Radio Romania Music.

On air, Monday, 15th December and Thursday, 18th December during the Arpeggio show, starting at 11:30.
