Tuesday, 18 March 2014 , ora 9.39

Radio Romania coordinates this media project with the partnership of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU). This media project celebrates the European Day of Early Music (EDEM) every year and is under the patronage of UNESCO.

On 21st March – we also celebrate Johann Sebastian Bach̕ s anniversary – nine concerts will be broadcast through satelite from Spain, Poland, Germany, Belgium, Austria, the Czech Republic and Denmark by the department Euroradio EBU and will be available in 15 countries.

The official promoter of EDEM is the European Early Music Network (REMA) which currently includes over 65 early music festivals and concert venues in 20 European countries, having the support of The European Commission through the Culture Programme and The Direction Générale de la Création Artistique of the French Culture Ministry, but the partner of this project on the European level is the European Broadcasting Union (EBU).

Live broadcasts and recordings from important European cultural centres appear in the EBU project and are played by famous bands and performers on the early music stage, such as the soprano Nuria Rial and the band La Floridiana, the conductor Jordi Savall, Le Concert des Nations orchestra and Romanian artists who have performed on international stages – the conductor Nicoleta Paraschivescu and the contra-tenor Valer Barnea Sãbãduº. The selection was possible due to the collaborations with the public European broadcasting stations, Alina Velea being a member of the European Broadcasting Union.

Radio Romania Music will schedule these recordings to be broadcast during the special Easter edition.
