Invitation to a Book Launch

Thursday, 20 March 2014 , ora 9.46

We invite you to the launch of the first book released by the Calea Victoriei Foundation, which takes place at the Cinema Hall of the National Military Circle (entering from the Regina Elisabeta Avenue), on Thursday, 20th March, at 18:30.

The book is released by the foundation in very special graphic conditions - with 13 original illustrations by Maria Surducan - and it will be available in limited edition. The book reproduces 13 conferences on famous operas and ballets, lectured by the conductor Tiberiu Soare during 2012-2013; these conferences are part of the
WHY DO WE GO TO THE OPERA? Project rewarded at the Civil Society Gala in the Art and Culture category in 2013. The book addresses itself to both young people and adults passionate of music.

Tiberiu Soare states: ''I can't tell you what this book really is. Actually, it was not even intended to be a book; when I was lecturing, I didn't know it was going to become a collection of printed texts. In fact, I didn't even write it. I just related it during these meetings each evening. I think it would be easier for me to tell you what this book is not: it is not a professional text the result of musicology research, nor is it an opera and ballet encyclopaedia. It is not a lecture, not even one for beginners; it isn't a history work for this domain, and it is not at all a collection of decompositions of the scores brought into discussion. As in an Oriental parabola, we may say that the book is not the Moon, but the finger pointing towards it''.
