Didier Lockwood: 'Open doors' album – Jazz hour, 8th of February 2018

France has been shaping its generations of jazz musicians since the arrival of Sidney Bechet and the taking-over of swing has begun as a component of its own musical culture. The violin is probably the most clearly represented by three generations illustriously signed by Stephane Grappelli, Jean-Luc Ponty and Didier Lockwood, the latter being the most stylistically diverse, even though, after hearing Ponty, it is very difficult to say something new about the broad expression of jazz violin. (Open Doors)

The inspiration, the flexibility of the musical mind and the tone transmitted to the instrument take us to the unique musician, who now offers us the discography as musical history, with swing, jazz-rock, funk and world beat. Since the day he left school for a rock band, Didier Lockwood has become one of the most personal and complex French musicians, before the impressive generation that marked the beginning of the 21st century gave us an air of sophistication and diversity.

"Open Doors" is a meridian album, one of a unique moment captured on the phonogram, which opens its sensors and sonorous perspective, keeping in the freshest form the most important aspects of a refined production: the precise orchestration, worked out for the opening towards the listener and not for the demonstration of the virtuosity, elegant solos and the warm atmosphere, relaxed by an encounter between compatible minds and souls, to the great delight of the one who tells himself : "Let me see what has Lockwood released new!". If until now you have liked his music, from now on you will like it even more.
