The first collaboration between a jazz group and a string orchestra took place in 1947, at the initiative of Charlie Parker, who recorded two albums (re-edited in 1995) under the title of "Charlie Parker and Strings". Chet Baker, Clifford Brown and Paul Desmond followed, as authors of inspired musical arrangements in which symphonic orchestras accompanied jazz standards, forming a series of unique productions. This concept has been masterfully revived in the present day by pianist Danny Green in the album "One Day It Will", featuring original compositions. Its essence lies in the art of the interaction of the jazz trio, well synchronized and enriched by a string quartet, orchestrated with a modern and perfectly complementary vision. The songs become sumptuous, elegantly led by the piano, articulated, no doubt, by the composer's classical training. In the moments when the quartet pulls back, the trio moves into rapid, but unitary expansion, as Danny Green pulls out all the tricks he has up his sleeve. "One Day It Will" is a delight for any jazz lover, as well as for chamber music enthusiasts. It's the kind of album you can listen to anytime, a masterpiece that will become a classic. This is only the sixth solo album by the unassuming Californian phenomenon, which promises us a wonderfully orchestrated future.
