The Radio Chamber Orchestra
Wednesday, 20 October 2010 , 19.00

Romanian-German collaborations through time. This evening’s guest at the Radio Chamber Orchestra is conductor Martin Knell. Martin Knell has been music director of the University of Darmstadt since 1981. Eleven years ago (on March 5th 1999, to be exact), Martin Knell conducted one of the Radio Orchestras in Bucharest for the first time. Back then, the solo part was performed by Cristina Anghelescu. Today, Martin Knell will be collaborating with Ioana Cristina Goicea, Cristina Anghelescu’s daughter, who is one of the most promising Romanian violinists.

The programme, interesting in its variety, will take us on a journey through three centuries of music: Overture in C major in the Italian Style by Franz Schubert, Violin and Orchestra Concerto in E minor by Felix Mendelssohn, Symphony in F major by Wilhelm Friedemann Bach and Igor Stravinsky’s Pulcinella Suite.
