The CD is comprised out of Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra’s new recordings, with Manfred Honeck at the conductor’s desk, and it contains Richard Strauss’s three most famous poems: Don Juan, Death and Transfiguration, Till Eulenspiegel's Merry Pranks. The CD was made using the Super Audio CD format at Fresch Sound Records and it was released in November 2013.

The Austrian Manfred Honeck is known as an extremely cultivated conductor in Richard Strauss’s compositions, but also for his crystal clear ideas about the way of performing them. With grace and passion at the same time, Honeck creates a whole new, fresh image for these opuses, and the orchestra – with whom he has been working since 2008 and the contract ending in 2020 – performs according to his instructions, achieving an original and interesting interpretation of these compositions. From this disc you can listen to Don Juan Op. 20 by Richard Straus
