Igor Levit - only by seeing how he plays Bach, can you notice how in the truest way possible he feels each and every sound - introverted, warm, concise, shrouded in polyphonic continuities, who in the end reveals his secrets. When it comes to the sonorous impact, there is no sign left of the staccato or of the sound of the harpsichord, which would have anchored the artist in the current of authentic, objective performances. However, we discover Igor Levit following the path foregrounded by Murray Perahia, maybe even more emotionally involved. We are referring to the Partitas BWV 825-830 by Bach, recorded by the American maestro between 2008-2009, certainly a more recent point of reference.

Returning to our star - this young Russian pianist, who grew up and was educated in Hanover - we can divine his Slavic sensitivity, rigorously polished according to the precepts of the German school, and we admire the way in which he builds his discourse. Each sound has its well-established place, born from the previous, preparing the next, with such natural fluency. His technique is pristine with intensities always formed with the support of a previous tension, which is unexpected in a 27 year old pianist who has launched his second album. For the first - Beethoven: The Late Piano Sonatas, he received important awards. We only mention Echo Klassik, 2014 - the German equivalent of the Grammy Awards. It is too early to speak about the prizes for his latest album, Igor Levit, which reunites all six Partitas by Bach. Its launch took place at the end of August, and we must specify that, from the start, it occupied the first places in the BBC Music Magazine chart.

...An album which we recommend not only to the lovers of baroque music; an album from whose contents we have chosen two Partitas, which we will broadcast during two Album Reviews (4th and 6th November) on Radio Romania Music; an album launched on 7th October, 2014.
