A new season of this show will begin on 6th October, 2014 - and I thought it would be a good idea to see what   albums will be releases this week.

Releases during the 6th-12th October, 2014 week

6th October is a day when several new albums will arrive on the shelves of the music stores. We mention the following: Gustavo Dudamel conducting Symphony no. 7 by  Gustav Mahler: the soprano Pumeza from South Africa releases the Voice of Hope album, which includes arias by Puccini and Mozart, together with traditional songs from South Africa; the American cellist Alisa Weilerstein, the sister of the conductor Joshua Weilerstein, whom we had the opportunity to watch during the RADIRO Festival, proposes the SOLO album, with works composed  in the 20th century: from Kodaly to Osvaldo Golijov; the Bach album will also be released on 6th October, an album signed by the pianist Vladimir Ashkenazy. On 7th October, 2014, the Sony record company will release two albums: Encanto del mar - Mediterranean Songs with Placido Domingo and Symphonies no.2 and 4 by Ludwig van Beethoven, with the Montreal Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Kent Nagano.

Behzod Abduraimov; from Uzbekistan

Today, we will talk about a pianist that few of us know: Behzod Abduraimov from Uzbekistan – a pianist who is 24 years old today. In 2009, he won the First Prize at the London International Music Competition; in 2012, he released his first album, at the Decca record company. And on 1st September, 2014, he released his second album - the one that we are listening today, included in the "Vote the Best Classical Album of 2014"campaign.

Together with the RAI National Symphony Orchestra (Orchestra Simfonica Nazionale della RAI), conducted by Juraj Valcuha, Behzod Abduraimov recorded two of the most important Russian piano concerts - Concert no. 3 by Prokofiev and Concert no.1 by Tchaikovsky.

"Could this child-face artist be a second Horowitz?" The Independent newspaper critics wondered. It is a well-known fact that Horowitz was one of the greatest performers of Concert no.5 by Prokofiev- and Behzod Abduraimov is definitely falling onto his footsteps, by proposing a stunning version of this concert.

At 24, Abduraimov has already two albums published by Decca, one of the most prestigious recording companies in the world; moreover, Abduraimov᾽s track record includes concerts conducted by important names of the current musical world: Gergiev, Ashkenazy and Dutoit. If we look at Abduraimov᾽s plans for the 2014-2015 seasons, we can see that they include concerts performed on the greatest stages of Europe, Asia and America - a high level career, of which any pianist would be proud.

You can only admire such a young and gifted pianist. Moreover, to play, as Abduraimov does, at only 24, makes him more than just a talent - it brings him closer to being a genius - as I myself considered him when I listened to another very young by exceptional pianist, the Canadian Jan Lisiecki, of Polish origins.

Abduraimov succeeds in offering a personal interpretation to a work which is often performed - the Concert no.1, op.23, in B flat minor, by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky.
