My suggestion to you this time is an album that was released on 2nd November, 2015 under the Decca label. Every Baroque and opera music lover should add this album to their collection - Arie Napoletane signed by countertenor Max Emanuel Cencic and Il Pomo d'Oro ensemble, conducted by Maxim Emelyanychev. This album is included in the Vote for the best classical music album of 2015 online campaign on romaniamuzical.ro, where you can rate your favourite albums.

The Arie Napoletane album, which was released on 2nd October, 2015, includes eleven arias signed by the composers who raised the popularity of the school in Naples during the 17th and the 18th centuries, when the city was one of the most important ones in Europe. Nine of the eleven arias are recorded for the first time. Most of the works on this album can be listened to on Music Box. Moreover, Max Cencic himself declared that so far, he has found so many arias that have not been recorded yet that he would have to release ten more discs to include them all.

In 2014 and 2015, Mac Emanuel Cencic, who is considered to be among the greatest countertenors and even the best one of our times, has released exactly five albums. Two of them include complete operas, other two consist of recital discs, while the latest one is The 5 Countertenors, in which he performs along with Romanian countertenor Valer Săbădu, among many others.

The Rokoko album was released in February, 2014; it includes arias by Johann Adolf Hasse, as well as an instrumental work, which is the same pattern that the Arie Napoletane album follows. Besides arias, the disc also contains a novel Concerto for Harpsichord and Orchestra by Domenico Auletta, which was recorded by the Il Pomo d-Oro ensemble with Maxim Emelyanychev as a soloist and conductor.

His most recent concert in Bucharest took place during this year's edition of 'George Enescu' International Festival, where he held two performances. He was the soloist both during the opening concert in Carmina Burana and in Leonardo Vinci's Cattone in Uttica, which is often included among the most popular concertos performed at the 'Enescu' Festival. As Cantone in Uttica features Cencic as a performer, the work is also included on an album that was released in May, 2015.

Max Emanuel Cencic, the most popular and listened to countertenor of our times, is a singer with a strong voice which enables him to approach his repertoire boldly and an intelligence that made him become as successful as he currently is. Album reviewers all over the world have already noticed the fact that the Arie Napoletane album strongly highlights the Croatian singer's timbre, which is more closed and grave, with contralto nuances. The Baroque repertoire requires a particular type of technique, which is entirely mastered by Cenciuc - a legato arch with a great breath support that makes every single note crystal clear to the listener, even in the faster tempos; the general view upon this is flawless.

Yes, this album should indeed be added to the collection of both any music lover who appreciates Baroque music, especially opera, and anyone who wants to enjoy good music performed according to the highest standards; not only Cencic's contribution to this album is important, but also that of the excellent ensemble Il Pomo d'Oro, which is specialised in this type of repertoire and, moreover, impresses the audience through the passion that they invest in their performance.
