At just twenty six years old the young French orchestra conductor was given the position as a Chief Conductor and a Musical Director of a very prestigious artistic institution, not just in Switzerland but in the entire world. Just one year after meeting this group, the French Lionel Bringuier was chosen as a succesor of the American David Zinman and took his attributions from the last stage.
The fact that Ravel`s music represented the first discographic project of this collaboration shouldn`t be a surprise for anyone if they give even the slightest interest to the interpretative biography of the young conductor. With Maurice Ravel`s La Valse , Lionel Bringuier has won not only International Besançon Competition for Young Conductors but also the Public`s Prize before turning nineteen years old. He also conducted Ravel`s Bolero at Cannes when he was fifteen! And still Ravel`s music was his choice when he said goodbye to the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra where he successfully conducted for a few years.
A young musician whose first discographic apparitions were connected to the French repertoire: Vincent d`Indy and Camille Saint Saens and among his soloists on the CD`s he collaborated with: Gautier and Renaud Capuçon, Yuja Wang or Nelson Freire.
In his second year of collaboration with the famous Swiss ensemble, Lionel Bringuier has ended this huge discography project mainly containing great live recordings not only from the artistic point of view but also from the technical one. By listening to these versions we can imagine the excelent communication between the chief orchestra and the members of the Tonhalle group.
Everyone has been speaking about his natural talent whose very good instincts are mixed with good taste but also with a rigorous technique! Even if his youth could justify his wish to make himself known, Lionel Bringuier already has the maturity to leave music in the first place and not his personal style. And if we add to this new discographical work the participation of incredible soloists with a great career- the pianist Yuja Wang and the violonist Ray Chen- the more we will enjoy this new Deutsche Grammophon spectacular project.
The album was launched at 8th of April and can be listened at Radio Romania Music in a series with nine episodes, starting from 16th of May during the Arpeggio show at 11.30 and it is included in the Vote for the Classical Album of 2016 campaign.
