I have long wanted to introduce you to David Helbock, the Austrian pianist whose extraordinary musical instinct blends remarkably well with his ability to communicate on various levels. There are many ways in which he can intrigue the mind, warm the heart, or touch motional chords. He recorded solo piano albums, one of them with music by John Williams, he sang in various trio formulas and he also added his personal touch to several valuable productions, managing to movethe mind and body. Here that in 2021, on the occasion of the release of the album "The New Cool", we have the opportunity to listen to it together. Helbock once again gathers his resources and ability to attract the public's attention through a new adventure, with more extended/elaborated writing, taken in a more emotional repertoire, with guitarist Arne Jansen and trumpeter Sebastian Studnitzky in a more emotional repertoire.

The three musicians create an environment in which the songs alternate in balance with the space that each instrument leaves to the other components. While much of the album's trend is lyrical and spacious, the line of expression is comfortably extended, with many references to cool jazz. In fact, David Helbock is inspired by Lennie Tristano's innovations, arguing that the jazz musician's main function is to feel, and to pass on to his colleagues the way he came up with this compelling and natural way to make music and to live.
