Interview with Răzvan Rădos, conductor of the Children's Radio Choir

Tuesday, 10 December 2024 , ora 15.16

Mr. Răzvan Rădos, this weekend, the Children's Radio Choir will perform two Christmas concerts. These are the traditional meeting with the Radio Hall audience and the charity concert "Magic Winter". How will you bring the Christmas atmosphere to these two events?

The concert on the evening of December 7th, at the Radio Hall, at 7:00 pm, is our traditional Christmas concert, this is the event in which the Children's Radio Choir offers the audience its beloved carols - both Romanian carols and Christmas songs from the international Christmas carols. We are happy, as every year, that this event is already sold out since mid-November. The children are also looking forward to this event with great enthusiasm, because this Christmas concert usually includes children who are newcomers to the Children's Radio Choir, who are performing for the first time.

The following evening, on December 8th, at the Students' Culture House, at 6:00 pm, we have the pleasure to sing in the show "Magic Winter". The show starts with a magic act performed by our friend Cristina Strecopîtovand, at the end, our children will present these carols for a humanitarian cause, for the children who are growing so beautifully in the "Mia's Children" Association.

Mrs. Mia Scarlat, the founder of the "Mia's Children" Association, is a former member of the Children's Radio Choir and, over the years, we have always had several children from this wonderful association, children taken from difficult situations by Mrs. Scarlat and brought up with a lot of care, with a lot of attention.

The "Magic Winter" show, organized by the Rotary Club Bucharest, wants to give these children an extra resource for the winter holidays and the Children's Radio Choir joins this beautiful endeavorwith great joy and affection.

Also, on December 12th, the Christmas concert of the Boys' Radio Choir will take place. Could you tell us how the idea for this ensemble came about?

During the pandemic, the boys in the Children's Radio Choir underwent a voice change and therefore could no longer be part of the ensemble's concert formula. Because they had missed almost two years of not being able to perform concerts, they were saddened at the thought. And so, my colleague, Mrs. Magdalena Faur - the pianist of the Children's Radio Choir came up with this idea, to set up a boys' ensemble. Under her direction initially and, later, under the direction of Mr. Liviu Ofițeru, the ensemble is now almost three years old and is making its debut at the Radio Hall as the only concert ensemble and we are very happy for this.

After these appearances, what future concerts is the Children's Radio Choir preparing?

We joke that we sleep in our concert costumes in December because there are usually so many opportunities to meet the public in December. You should know that it's about every other day there's a concert, sometimes every other day there's a stage appearance, and we also have days when we have two concerts. So, there's a lot of that coming up.

I would point out, as important events, the evening of December 17th, in the Hall of the Romanian Patriarchate, at the well-known concert "The Rising Above" and the evening of December 21st, when at New St. Eleftherios Church, together with a group of seniors, our choir, the Children's Radio Choir, carols the Bucharest audience. This is an event with free entry for the public and is especially dedicated to single people or people who are not able to buy a ticket for events in concert halls.

In addition to these special events, we will take to the stage of the Radio Hall with the Radio Big Band led by Mrs. Simona Strungaru on the evening of December 19th and the morning of December 21st.

All these events will be promoted one by one on the Children's Radio Choir Facebook page.
