For how long have you been implementingthe"Listen to 5 minutes of classical music" project initiated by Radio Romania Music in the library?

This project "Listen to 5 minutes of classical music" is a project that I came to indirectly, I could say. I found out about this project from the media. Having heardofit, of course I quickly contacted the important person in this project, more precisely, Mrs. Mihaela Manciu from Brașov, a dedicated teacher at the Music High School in our city and, of course, Mrs. Cristina Comandașu, who initiated this project. The organizational problems were resolved very quickly and we started. Implementation has been taking about two to three weeks; not for a very long time, but with extraordinary success. The last activity I carried out within this project is with a third grade from the Gymnasium School no. 3, Mrs. Professor Viorica Pralea. I started the reading class with the music provided for this project by Radio Romania Music. It has proved an extraordinary success in these three weeks, so that from now on, I promise that I will not start any other activity without 5 minutes of music. I'm even talking about activities with adults.

You, being at the Center of Excellence for Children and Youth, took theinitiativeto implement the project further, requesting the affiliation of the Associations of Librarians and Libraries in Romania. Please tell us about this approach, because, from this moment onwards, Radio Romania Music will have two new partners thanks to you.

Indeed. These are the National Association of Libraries and Librarians in Romania and the Association of Romanian Librarians. There are two different associations, the Association of Public Librarians and the Association of School Librarians. Iindeed asked for the agreement of the two associations to join us, to support us and for the project to be started in every libraryacross our country.

Will you carry out this project online more due to the pandemic or what is your situation
at this moment?

Yes, in Brașov the activities only take place online and I reckon that the situation is the same in most libraries in the country, which is why the project will take place online. Before starting the activity, on Zoom, for example, with the camera turned off, only the microphone on, I turn on 5 minutes of musicbefore welcoming my guests online, then stop the music, say hello and start the activity. This activity reaches everyone's soul.

Are we talking about subscribers or how do you reach children or even adults?

It is naturally easier to reach frequent, loyal users of the library. They are the ones more interested in our activities, but we reach other readers of ours or less frequent users with your help. We did activities in larger groups, groups of parents, groups of grandparents. It went extraordinarily well.

How can you be contacted?

First of all, there is the blog of the County Library, the website of the George Barițiu Brașov County Library. The information will of course be disseminatedand will also appear on the website of the two associations that support us and, of course, the Brașov County Library Facebook page, respectively the page of the associations that support us.Music and books will always make a good home.
