Interview with soprano Aida Pascu

Thursday, 6 March 2025 , ora 11.15

On Saturday, March 8th, soprano Aida Pascu, "Heirs of Musical Romania" scholarship recipient and holder of the title "Young artist of the year" at the International Classical Music Awards 2024, sings in Geneva at the Claseek Gala, one of the most relevant platforms for the promotion of young musicians worldwide. On this occasion, Aida Pascu spoke with Ioana Țintea.

Aida Pascu, last year you were nominated winner of the Young Artist of the Year section at the International Classical Music Awards and selected in the Classeek program, ambassador for 2024-2025. What has this experience been like for you so far?

I can say that the Classeek team is a team of people passionate about young talent and quality music, which makes any collaboration enjoyable, even select, and this program has given me some nice opportunities for development, but also visibility, which is important in a young person's career.

Also, last December, you gave your first recital under the aegis of Classeek with pianist Gabriel Gîțan. How was the event received?

My recital was organized with great care, recorded with the highest quality audio-video equipment, and promoted online, and we were treated very generously and warmly. Here I dare to speak also for Gabriel, who is now my business partner, and say that we both had a great time and of course our collaboration is getting stronger and stronger with every concert we do together.

On March 8th, you will perform in Geneva at the Classeek gala dedicated to International Women's Day. What are you looking forward to?

I am happy that we are celebrating this day worldwide. I'm even happier that I can do something to represent women in the arts on stage. The Gala itself is a celebration of female solidarity, which I think is very important in any role we take on in life as a friend, sister, daughter, mother or even a role on stage.

What will you perform?

I will be performing the duet De torrente in via bibet from Händel's Dixit Dominus with soprano Laura Andre and the first soprano part from Beethoven's Choral Fantasy.

After the March 8th concert in Geneva, what's next on your agenda?

On April 4th I will have the pleasure to perform for the first time another oratorio for soprano and chamber orchestra, this time Luigi Boccherini's Stabat Mater with "I Solisti Veneti" at the Adria Cathedral in Italy.
