Mr. Dragoș Dumitru, we heard that you were recently named the new director of the BrașovPhilharmonic. What is your vision or strategy in regards to the institution that you now lead?

It is true, I took charge of the BrașovPhilharmonic, alongside HoriaMihail, who is our new artistic director. First and foremost, our plan is especially founded on open communication between us, musicians, and local authorities. Secondly, we wish to expand as much as possible, not only outside of Brașov, but even outside of the country too. We wish to draw near communities to which we will present new programmes, ones that go outside of the classical realm and come near to jazz or, why not, pop that, at the same time, reach larger age groups.

Since last week, these concerts have been made available online, on the Facebook page of the Radio RomâniaMuzical. How do you see this relation between the Philarmonic and the radio channel Radio RomâniaMuzical?

The radio is a very important communication element of our country and we were thrilled about this partnership. In this way, we can be heard and seen by many people outside of Brașov. Of course, we will have to get a feedback from the community and the Radio itself. We encourage people to write to us as much as they can. We are open to listen to their suggestions and recommendations, if they have any. We will also try-although, admittedly, it is not the same thing online as it is live-to offer weekly programmes that would transcend the screen or the speaker. It will be difficult since we can only work with 46 people on the stage at a time, and in these circumstances the musicians do not get the chance to perform equally. For instance, the wind instrument musicians, and sometimes string players too, do not get the chance to perform every week. That's why, at the initiative of HoriaMihail, we envisioned a programme together with the conductor Jozsef Horvath that would bring the spotlight on the wind instrument players-wood and brass instruments. We will hold this concert on the 10^th of December. We have also encouraged our musicians to perform solos and recitals in chamber ensembles within the orchestra.

Finally, Mr. Dragoș Dumitru, we know that you will make special recordings together with the violinist Valentin Șerban. What it is all about?

The fact that we can appear on stage keeps us emotionally afloat, and that is why I wholeheartedly accepted this invitation. Last week, even, we played at the Romanian Athenaeum in very particular conditions, that is there was no body in the hall, but we enacted the entire ritual of a concert-stepping onto the stage, bowing, playing, but all without applause. It was-and I will be very honest-an eerie moment, but very nice at the same time, since we were given the opportunity to continue our work. That is why I am very glad I will soonbe able to record with Valentin Șerban. It will be the first time I ever record on the radio, it's a premiere for me. I am very glad that I will be heard all over the country in this way. We will record pieces from Cesar Franck-Sonata for Violin and Piano-and other shorter pieces, like Tchaikovsky's Melodie. We will also record a contemporary composition of Arvo Part-Fratres. There a lot of pieces in our repertoire and we kindly invite you to listen to them.
