Mrs. Axia Marinescu, thank you for your collaboration with Radio Romania Muzical, which turns 25 years old. I would like to ask you, for a start, what memories you have of the extraordinary recital you gave at the Radio Hall in June 2019, within the project the Heirs of Musical Romania, organized by our station.

Happy Birthday to the 25 years and I hope to follow as many as possible from now on, with beautiful projects. Yes, indeed, that 2019 recital was a very important moment for me from two points of view. The first is the fact that after 20 years I returned to the Romanian Broadcasting scene. I started when I was 11 years old with the Radio Chamber Orchestra, in a Mozart concert, which for me even today is a very special moment that I will never forget and I had the opportunity, so in 2019, after 20 years, to return to Bucharest on the stage of the Radio Hall; and secondly, I would say that this would be a beautiful collaboration during the Romania-France cultural season, in which I had several recitals, both in France and in Romania, with a rather unique project, I would say, a repertoire dedicated to Romanian and French composers, but also a more special staging, given that the musical part was accompanied by some images of Romanian painters from the nineteenth, twentieth century, who worked and lived in France.

I personally remember with pleasure the recitals and concerts in 2019, when you sang in the project the Heirs of Musical Romania, because after a while the pandemic started and the concert life was much reduced. Has it affected you?

At the beginning, especially, it was quite complicated, but I remember with great pleasure this project the Heirs of Musical Romania. I was very happy to be a part of it and I hope that concerts will continue to be organized and it will have the magnitude it had in 2019, before the pandemic. Regarding your question, yes, of course, at first, like everyone else, this pandemic affected me, there were no more concerts. Now, little by little, we're starting to recover. I recently released a new album that I present in almost every city in France. The launch concert took place a few weeks ago at the Salle Gaveau and it went very well for me, so I hope that things will resume and all the concerts and all the musical activity as soon as possible.

I would like to remind our listeners that the program you presented then at the Heirs of Musical Romania appeared on disk at Casa Radio Publishing House, so I was able to broadcast it later on Radio România Muzical and thus reach the next question about the projects discography: as you said, you released a new album, at the end of last year, very interesting, with French dance repertoire, written by women composers, which I also broadcast as part of the project Discs of the Year 2022. Please Tell us how you came up with the idea for this CD what it contains.

It was a pandemic idea. An idea that came to me 100% in the pandemic. I was already thinking about the program of a new record, I still didn't have a clear direction and doing a score search, I came across some pieces by a French baroque composer Elisabeth Jacquet de la Guerre and then I thought it would be a very good idea to combine this direction of dance, which I am still passionate about besides music - I really like dancing - with scores written by French women composers from the Baroque to the present day. It was a rather complicated job, because during the pandemic I didn't have much access to libraries, being closed, but I still managed to do a manuscript research. We discovered many songs that were never sung or recorded, of course, and we managed to bring them to this album, which was very well received by the French public. I hope that the public could have discovered, on this occasion, a very beautiful repertoire, I would say, extremely expressive and which deserves its place among the established pieces of music history.

I would like to return to the subject of Radio România Muzical. You live in France, where there are valuable classical music radio stations. How do you see the differences and similarities between our post and those in France?

I wouldn't say there are very big differences. On the contrary, every time I come to Romania and listen to Radio România Muzical, it gives me great pleasure to discover a program of very diverse repertoires. I mean, we're also talking about extremely well-known music, but also lesser-known scores, and I think that's important, because the Romanian public needs to get in touch with music that may not be as well promoted. In France, this is a very important part of radio. We always try to bring in the public's repertoire as diverse and new as possible, because in the end, the history of music must be built today and there are many extremely talented musicians.

Because we are in an anniversary moment, when Radio România Muzical turns 25 years old and because without our listeners we could not activate, please send a message or a wish to those who listen to us.

First of all, I wish we could see each other again in the concert hall in Romania. It is, perhaps, my most burning desire. But until then, I want them to always be happy and eager to know the music, to listen to it in depth, with joy, with an openness of soul and mind. I think that music is perhaps the only one that can help us get through this period as easily as possible and not only that. In life, music is like water in our souls.
