The winners of the ninth edition of the Prometheus Awards, given annually by the Anonymous Foundation, were nominated on Wednesday, October 13^th, 2010, at the Prometheus Club in the capital. The festivity began with the word of the jury president, Andrei Pleşu, who presented the candidate selection method for the two awards, "Opera Omnia" and "Opera Prima".

The jury was formed by one representative of each artistic field of which the following are the nominees: Dan Dediu - music, Ruxandra Demetrescu - visual arts, Eugen Negrici - literature and Ion Caramitru - performing arts. Each of them spoke in order to submit their own nomination, for the awards to be eventually announced by Andrei Pleşu.

The finalists of the "Opera Omnia" section were the pianist Valentin Gheorghiu, the writer Ştefan Agopian, the painter Ion Grigorescu and the actor Victor Rebengiuc; for the "Opera Prima", there were nominated the conductor Tiberiu Soare, the literary critic Andrei Terian, the painter Adrian Ghenie and the director Florin Şerban.

The winner of the Lifetime Achievement Award was Victor Rebengiuc (in the photo), the nominee of the "Performing Arts" section, and the Debut Award was given to Andrei Terian (in the photo), the nominee of the "Literature" section.

We have found out more information on the awards from the composer Dan Dediu, Professor Ph. D., Rector of the National University of Music in Bucharest and member of the jury:

"In a way, they are immeasurable fields and we had to reduce them to a common denominator in order to exercise one vote. The discussions were extremely to the point. I knew the guide marks of each finalist's creation. It is an honor to be present among the nominees and I think that the key-point of the "Opera Prima" and "Opera Omnia" awards is to create a valuable hierarchy in the field of arts so that the public opinion will continue to have some guide marks from the specialists. The fact that the prize was won by one or the other indicates the free will of each member and it implies both a democratic vote and some more or less subjective opinions.

From my point of view, those two awards - that of a great actor as Victor Rebengiuc and the one of a great promise as Andrei Terian, a far-reaching critic to whom everybody listens - do nothing but maintain a very high bar of the Prometheus Awards, given by the Anonymous Foundation.
