The National Tour 'Duel of the Violins' At Its Second Edition
The pianist Horia Mihail was kind enough to give us a few details about the tour in the following interview:
What new things will this second edition of the 'Duel of the Violins' Tour bring in comparison with last year's edition?
A different repertoire and new cities. We will be stopping mainly in Moldavia this time; the first three concerts are going to take place in Galați on 12th September, in Iași on 13th September and in Bacău on 16th September. It brings the three of us together - Liviu Prunaru, Gabriel Croitoru and I - a year later, a very rich year, full for the three of us, and this changed us a little bit. Our audience will listen to us and see three musicians who have matured with one year.
The programme also contains a novelty in you repertoire and in the repertoire of the two violinists which is, at the same time, a premiere for the Romanian audience. What can you tell us about this suite by Moskovski?
It is going to be the piece at the ending of the recital, supposing the audience will not cheer and we will not play encores. It is an easily accessible music, very beautiful. When I rehearsed with my colleagues we were all very excited by this piece. Of course, every piece which we are going to play in our nine concerts is a smaller or a greater masterpiece. I was extremely pleased with Handel's Sonata, which I have just discovered.
Besides these works, would you enumerate other attractions of the programme?
Every piece is a real musical jewel. The programme chosen by my colleagues is particularly interesting and diverse. I personally love every second of this concert.
Apparently the decision to nominate the winner was postponed in last year's edition.
I am absolutely convinced that just like last year the real winners will be the people present in the concert halls and of course us three - reunited after a year, as you can see, and happy that we are together again.
