Alexandra Dariescu - on Tour in Holland

Monday, 26 January 2015 , ora 9.40

The pianist Alexandra Dariescu will perform a tour in Holland starting today, 26th January, 2015. The series will begin with a recital in Texel. Bergen, Almaar and Amsterdam will also be visited by the pianist within this period, as the tour will end on 8th February. Regarding the tour, the pianist stated this:

I attended a mastery class in Holland last year and I received the biggest prize they had, which is a tour around Holland and also my first performance at Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. I am very happy about this.

What is the programme of this tour?

It is a recital programme. We will perform five recitals, and the programme is a very beautiful one. I am very glad that I could include a Romanian composition as well, Dinu Lipatti's Sonatina for the Left Hand, as well as Schumann's Abegg Variations, Beethoven's Sonata Op. 10 No. 2 and Chopin's Scherzo No. 2.

Regarding Dinu Lipatti's opus… Why did you choose his music from all the Romanian compositions?

Dinu Lipatti is a composer and above all a pianist whom I love. I've been looking up to Dinu Lipatti my whole life and that is the reason why I am very happy to have the chance to include one of his works into the programme and I'm thinking especially about the future, about 2017, when the 100th anniversary since his birth will be celebrated. Two years ago we performed his Concertino for Piano and Orchestra in Great Britain for the first time. On that occasion I became very fond of his music, not only of his interpretations, and I was very glad that I was able to include the Sonatina into the programme.

What's next after the Holland tour?

The busiest month ever; I will return to Great Britain to attend the Stoke on Trent Festival, which is very famous here, and then I will perform Rachmaninoff's Concerto for Piano and Orchestra No. 2 with Bath Philharmonia. After a few days, I will leave for Dubai for the first time to perform Mozart's Concerto No. 21 with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. At the end of February I will be back to Great Britain with the Cheltenham Symphony Orchestra to perform Grieg's Concerto. It will be a busy month, full of many beautiful programmes which I am very happy about.
