On December 6th, 2022, a "Radu Lupu Memorial Concert" is scheduled on the stage of the Romanian Athenaeum, organized by the National Symphony Orchestra of Romania conducted by Cristian Mandeal. We learn more details from cellist Marin Cazacu, manager of the "George Enescu" Philharmonic, in ainterview offered to Ioana Țintea.

Mr. Marin Cazacu, on December 6th, on the stage of the Romanian Athenaeum, the National Symphony Orchestra of Romania conducted by Cristian Mandeal will perform a concert in memory of RaduLupu. I would like you to give us more details about this event hosted by the "George Enescu" Philharmonic.

For the "George Enescu" Philharmonic, it is an honor to be able to organize and host such an important event dedicated to the memory of maestro Radu Lupu, one of the greatest pianists of mankind. In this event on December 6th, is invited one of the best friends of pianist RaduLupu, the Swiss pianist Nelson Goerner who, alongthe National Symphony Orchestra of Romania conducted by maestro Cristian Mandeal, will offer us a program extremely close to the soul of Radu Lupu. I am referring here to Overture in the Italian style by Franz Schubert, Concerto No. 2 for piano and orchestra by Frederic Chopin and Symphony No. 3 Eroica by Ludwig van Beethoven.

We are very happy that this event - here, 6 months after the death of maestro RaduLupu, and close to November 30th, the pianist's birthday - is taking place on December 6th, at the Romanian Athenaeum, at 7:00 p.m. with this extraordinary program.

With what thoughts do you think pianist Nelson Goerner received the invitation to participate in this event?

Nelson Goerner, being a close friend, lives in Switzerland, as maestro RaduLupudid too in the last period of his life, they met often, played two pianos, talked about music. H received with immense joy the idea of being part of this project, of being on the stage of the Romanian Athenaeum in the company of the National Symphony Orchestra of Romania with maestro Cristian Mandeal, for such a gesture of gratitude and remembrance of maestro RaduLupu.

By the way, know that the great pianist's wife, violinist Delia Bugarin, is also invited to the concert, who comes with a sad but open soul for this event.

Returning to the Philharmonic's current season, on December 8th and 9th you have scheduled two concerts performed by the institution's orchestra, with James Feddeck at the conductor's desk and pianist Andreas Haefliger in solo position. How is the program of these two events structured?

We are already preparing for next year, when Johannes Brahms will be celebrated all over the world on his 190th birthday. The program will be all Johannes Brahms and will include Concerto No. 1 for piano and orchestra in D minor and Symphony I in C minor. These are two masterpieces of universal music, with two great masters - the American conductor James Feddeck and the pianist Andreas Haefliger. I am convinced that the audience will fully enjoy the presence of the two great artists and the interpretations of their lordships in these two masterpieces of Brahmsian music.
