Jazzmeia Horn: "Love and Liberation" album - on Jazzy Hour, 1st of October, 2019

Release: 23rd of August, 2019.

It only took a debut album for a resonant, well-defined, and ideally suited for the classical and improvisational jazz voice to place itself amongst the best vocalists, and be nominated for the 2017 Grammy Award. Jazzmeia Horn's name, voice, and style represents the genre on an unexpectedly-exquisite level for the present-day standards. Her singing, marked by easiness, groove flexibility, and fearless improvisation, is surprisingly graceful.

The second album -"Love and Liberation" - exhibits band's maturing and courage, not only by a social-issue-themed repertoire, but especially by substantial musicality and vocal performance. Being well-prepared during a period abundant in concerts, which had preceded recordings, Jazzmeia Horn walked into the studio with a well-balanced repertoire between emotionally detached songs and compositions with a personal touch, alongside a group of virtuosi, who had enriched the improvisational energy of the album. The songs are composed in the tradition of the classical genre, and complete it with delicate accents of soul and funk, thus revealing ingenuity and taste for the melodic line and meaningful lyrics.

It feels like a group that played a lot in the same manner, a group that spent time together, and definitely, a group that share the same philosophy upon music. Jazzmeia sings, writes, and leads a group now, like no one from her generation does, "Love and Liberation" being the most distinct proof.
