Alex Hahn: 'New Flight' album - Jazzy hour, 1st October, 2019

Album released on 30th August, 2019

Alex Hahn is the kind of musician that you cannot listent without marvelling at his ability to reach such maturity and musical complexity at an age usually characterized by a lack of professional direction. He has already graduated three musical schools, he has had collaborations with Herbie Hancock, Esperanza Spaldingand Bob Mintzer, and his third album presents him as an exceptional saxophonist and also a sophisticated composer, capable of giving life to a dense but soothing music. No matter the tempo, each piece has its own flavour, the album gaining consistency through the orchestration and the impeccable performance. The clear sounds reach us in full expression and the fine phrased details reveal the artistry of each and every musician.

A lot of great albums are being released but unfortunately some of them do not receive the publicity they deserve, but this depends only on the artist and his team. All can be easily distinguished, each defined by its exquisite concept and the musicians that give their all to make a name for themselves, to find their voice. Sometimes, something that seems familiar turns up, but even that becomes distinct through some added intensity and musical class exuded by the artist that we can never encounter in scores. That's where the joy comes from. That's why 'New Flight' is a special album, and Alex Hahn has so much to bring to the table, even though his journey has just begun.
