One of the most absorbing musical experiences in the past years comes from Serbia, under the name of a highly appreciated quartet that has already performed on the stages of the European festivals, including Romania. Eyot symbolizes the unprecedented sound of a musical environment inspired by Bruckner, Sting, John Williams and Stevan Mokranjac, designed by four intuitive, educated musicians who have a good sense for improvisation, and who feel comfortable in the intricate language of contemporary music. The title of their album that came out in 2020 is "557799", suggesting the rhythmic pattern of one of the songs. ⅝, ⅞, 9/8 are measures specific to the Serbian Balkans, which can indicate the musical complexity, as well as a certain insecurity specific to the area, a tumult of life and emotion that the Balkans have always known how to transpose into music. Eyot has kept the cadence and added a modern sound content, virtuous and sophisticated, getting close to the actual tendency of the European music influenced by jazz. Their album is represented by outdated concepts treated with new solutions, inspired by many musical styles which are heading towards this unique sound which we will remember under the name of Eyot.
