John McLaughlin: album "Liberation Time" – Jazzy Hour, September 9th, 2021

If in the first part we listened to a phenomenal young guitarist, in the second part we receive the proof of a legend that for almost 60 years he created constantly under the intense influence of inspiration and instrumental genius. John McLaughlin comes up with another magnificent opposite through composition, instrumentalism and improvisation, shattering any theory that holds that musical language has any limits, as long as freedom is defined by value and responsibility. Accustomed to translating tumultuous moments into audio refinement, McLaughlin records the album "Liberation Time" in reflection of the uncertainty, vulnerability and slow return of the joy of normalcy in the years 2020-2021. In response to the constraints caused by the pandemic, production is not based on a fixed set. Uncertain about physical proximity, John Mclaughlin used many years of experience to select the most suitable musicians for each song. The exceptional compositions therefore have tailor-made performers: drummers Ranjit Barot and Vinnie Colaiuta, bassists Sam Burgess, Etienne Mbappe and Jerome Regard, keyboardists Gary Husband and Oz Ezzeldin or saxophonist Julian Siegel. "Liberation Time" is a product of his time, which defies physical distance and expands the fascinating world of a musical colossus.
