Maestro Horia Andreescu returns to the stage of the Sibiu Philharmonic

A unique double bass concert and a Brahms symphony allow the reunion of the Sibiu audience with maestro Horia Andreescu. The concert will be with the public, on Thursday, January 21st, 2021, starting at 7 pm, at the Thalia Hall.

The double bass is the instrument that rarely appears in front of the orchestra as a "soloist". Thursday, January 21st, 2021, with the interpretation of the Concerto for double bass and orchestra in F minor, op. 3 by Serge Koussevitzky. The soloist will be the double bassist Adam Chirilă Adrian.

Mastro Horia Andreescu returns to the conducting desk, the one who opened "Beethoven’s Season" in October 2019. Principal Conductor of the "George Enescu" Philharmonic in Bucharest, master Horia Andreescu maintains a special relationship with the most important musical institution in the country yet since its debut in 1987.Until 2010, for more than 18 years, he was the Artistic Director and Chief Conductor of Radio Romania Orchestras and Choirs. In the 1980s and 1990s he was the Permanent Guest Conductor of some important German ensembles: The Berlin Radio Orchestra, the Dresden Philharmonic and the Schwerin State Chapel. The scope of the activity and preoccupations confirm to Horia Andreescu the status of true ambassador of the Romanian musical culture and outline the portrait of a mature and complex artist, master of the most subtle means of conducting art, for which originality of conception, stylistic diversity, rhythmic vitality, intonation precision and maintaining a continuous inner tension is the most important artistic virtues.
