An evening at the Opera
Il Trovatore, live from the MET
Saturday, 30 April 2011
, 19.00
As for our last live-broadcast production in the 2010-2011 Season of the Metropolitan Opera in New York, we invite you to listen to Il Trovatore. This will reward your commitment to 'An Evening at the Opera' with (probably) a great performance, as its cast gathers together - as Caruso would have recommended - four of today's most important Verdian performers: Marcelo Álvarez (Manrico), Dolora Zajick (Azucena), Sondra Radvanovsky (Leonora) and Dmitri Hvorostovsky (Count di Luna). Another strong point of this performance is a highly important 'detail': the musical lead belongs to Verdian maestro Marco Armiliato.
Curses and petty wars, love and death coming right afterwards to create this performance which becomes more genuine than ever under the direction of David McVicar. A performance which I am sure will pass from An Evening at the Opera to live forever in your memory. I hope you will not miss it...
