Wednesday, 11 April 2012, 19.00, we invite you to the Radio Hall to listen to the most important Romanian quartet ensemble, Voces. Bujor Prelipceanu - first violin, Vlad Hrubaru - second violin, Constantin Stanciu - viola and Dan Prelipceanu - cello - propose a special programme for the Holy Week: Die sieben letzten Worte unseres Erlösers am Kreuze, Op. 51 by Joseph Haydn. The work was initially composed for orchestra, in 1786, as a request from a Spanish church, for the service during the Holy Week. A year later, Haydn changed it for string quartet.

The most important Romanian quartet ensemble, Voces, has started its activity three decades ago, in 1973. Made up of graduates of the George Enescu Conservatory in Iași, the band was noticed immediately through its possible value, accomplished with specialised studies in the country with Wilhelm Georg Berger and abroad at mastery classes in Israel, Italy, Hungary, Germany and with the Amadeus Quartet in London. Famous awards attest the value of the rise towards international acknowledgment: Colmar - France (1974), Bordeaux - France (1976), Karl Klinger Hannover - Germany (1979). An especially different repertoire manages to reunite classical and romantic integrals, Romanian and universal opera of composers of the 20th century and recent music of the best quality. The Voces Quartet is often present in great tours or at festivals in Bratislava, Torino, Siena, Salzburg, Istanbul, Bucharest, Bayreuth etc.

As part of the international system of ensembles of the Romanian Society of Radio Broadcasting, the Voces Quartet holds permanent seasons in Bucharest, makes radio and tape recordings (Electrecord, Marco-Polo, EMI-Electrola). It was awarded the Musical Criticism Prize in 1997. Its members are also part of an important didactic activity at the George Enescu University of Arts in Iași, being also honour professors of the Academy of Music in Cluj.
