In the opening of the concert Cello Concerto No. 9 in B flat major by Luigi Boccherini will be performed; soloist Ovidiu Marinescu. Afterwards, we will listen to Mikhail Glinka's Kamarinskaya, written in 1848, the first orchestra work based entirely on a Russian popular song. In the second part of the programme, Symphony No. 4 in B Flat Major by Ludwig van Beethoven will be performed.

Ovidiu Marinescu, well-known by the Romanian audience as a cellist, develops his activity as a conductor in the USA. Under his baton, the Symphony Orchestra of the West Chester University made its debut at Kimmel Center in Phildelphia and went on its first tour in Europe. With a precise technique and great musical inspiration, Ovidiu Marinescu built his conducting career collaborating with orchestras such as Wilmington, Immaculata Symphony, Manalapan New Jersey, Goppisberg Festival Orchestra in Switzerland. He was asked to hold concerts with the Russian Philharmonic Orchestra in Moscow, the Gaia Philharmonic in Portugal, Helena Symphony in the USA, the Philharmonic Orchestras in Bacău, Craiova, Ploiești, Botoșani, Târgoviște, Brașov.

Both as conductor and performer, Ovidiu Marinescu collaborated with the Extremadura Orchestra in Spain. He was the conductor of the world premiere of Helen Keller ballet at the Rebecca David Ballet Company in Philadelphia. Concerned with the young generation, conductor Ovidiu Marinescu has put together many special programmes of musical education, where the narrated story of Lieutenant Kijé by Sergei Prokofiev was found.
