Radio Chamber Orchestra - live broadcast
Wednesday, 3 November 2010 , 19.00

Today’s concert of the Radio Chamber Orchestra also celebrates ninety years since the establishment of the Union of Composers and Musicologists of Romania.

The opening work, Entertainment for string orchestra, signed by Adrian Iorgulescu, the president of this important cultural body, will resound under the baton of Radu Popa in the ’Mihail Jora’ Studio. Afterwards, the public will enjoy two works more rarely played on Romanian stages – Two Pianos and Orchestra Concertos No.1 and No.2 by Johann Sebastian Bach.

It will also be an artistic reunion of teacher and disciple - Dana Borșan and Toma Popovici. The concert will end on the Suite from the stage music of Ein Sommernachtstraum, Op.61, a work by Mendelssohn that had a bizarre destiny – the overture had been written sixteen years before the piece was finished.

Tonight, for almost two hours, you can make a journey through centuries of music, through three great periods of musical history: the Baroque, the Romantic and contemporary period.
