Two Recitals at the Radio Concert Hall

In April, violinist Cristina Anghelescu and pianist Viniciu Moroianu are to perform two recitals at the Radio Concert Hall as part of the Complete Beethoven Piano and Violin Sonatas series.

The first recital will take place on Friday, April 9th 2010 starting from 19:00 and includes Ludwig van Beethoven’s Sonata No. 2 in A major Op. 12 No.2 , Sonata No. 10 in G major Op. 96 and Sonata No. 7 in C minor Op. 30 No.2.

The second recital held by the two performers will take place on Tuesday, April 27th 2010 starting from 19:00 and includes Ludwig van Beethoven’s Sonata No.6 on A major Op.30, No.1, Sonata No.3 in E flat major Op.12, No.3 and Sonata No.9 in A major Op.47 ‘Kreutzer’.

Cristina Anghelescu is soloist of the Radio Orchestras and Choirs and has an impressive musical career. She has held numerous concerts and recitals all over Romania as well as in important music halls in the world, such as Das Schauspielhaus (Berlin), Tchaikovsky Hall (Moscow), the Teatro Monumental and the National Auditorium of Music (Madrid), in Dresden, Paris, Prague, Bratislava, Caracas, Budapest, London and has collaborated with well-known musicians, namely Leif Segerstam, Jukka-Pekka Saraste, Erich Bergel and all the Romanian conductors. From a large repertoire which includes the most important works composed for violin, Cristina Anghelescu has recorded many CDs with concerts of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy, Antonio Vivaldi’s Stagioni and George Lloyd’s two concertos with the renowned London Philharmonic Orchestra.

Viniciu Moroianu’s rich repertoire includes both classic and contemporary composers, as well as 650 concerts and public appearances – recitals held in Paris, Rome, Berlin, Venice, Graz, San Jose, Palm Beach, concerts with Romanian philharmonic orchestras, as well as with those in Athens, Gorizia, Chișinău and chamber ensembles from Berlin, Athens, Budapest and Copenhagen. He has recorded two CDs at Electrecord (works of Johannes Brahms and George Enescu) and Bohuslav Martinù’s Piano Concertino at Argora in Athens.

Viniciu Moroianu has been teaching at the Bucharest National University of Music, at the Piano Department since 1993, after having taught at the Chamber Music Department (1990-1994). His students are appreciated by distinguished musicians such as Dmitri Bashkirov, Bart Berman and Karl-Heinz Kämmerling. Viniciu Moroianu has been awarded for the performance of George Enescu’s and Dinu Lipatti’s works. In 2005 he achieved a Ph.D. in music with the thesis Two centuries of composing reflected in Dinu Lipatti’s piano solo works.
