The Radio Chamber Orchestra Season
Wednesday, 28 April 2010 , 19.00

Considered to be, at adulthood, the greatest composer of his time, he wrote masterpieces in almost every genre; his elegant and agreeable works present a balanced tradition and a serious sense of humour which is sometimes dramatic.

He was the first great symphonist and his sixty-eight string quartets form the basis of this genre. The most important composer to have shaped the classical style had a major influence both on his friend Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and on his student Ludwig van Beethoven.

The Radio Chamber Orchestra dedicates to Joseph Haydn the programme on April 28th: Symphony No. 21 in A major, whose four parts have been a challenge to musicologists because of their structure difficult to be put into a certain form, Piano and Orchestra Concerto in G major and Mass No. 12 in B flat major, the so-called Theresienmesse after the Empress Maria Theresa of the Two Sicilies.

You can listen to them in ‘Mihail Jora’ Studio or live on Radio Romania Music in this evening, starting with 19:00.
