Violinist Irina Mureșanu Returns at the Radio Concert Hall

Violinist Irina Mureșanu has come back from Boston to perform alongside the National Radio Orchestra conducted by Jin Wang on Friday, May 14th 2010 starting from 19.00. The artist is to perform the famous Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto in D major. The performances also include three wonderful orchestral works, namely Modest Mussorgsky’s Night on Bald Mountain, Alexander Scriabin’s Symphony No.4, ‘Poème de l'Extase’ and the Polovtsian Dances from Prince Igor, an opera by Alexander Borodin. The Academic Radio Choir conducted by Dan Mihai Goia is to perform as well.

The Boston Globe newspaper wrote that Irina Mureșanu ‘is not only a virtuoso, but also an artist.’ The Romanian violinist made her explosive debut on the American stages of the famous Carnegie Weill Recital Hall, instantly generating favourable reviews. During her career, Irina Mureșanu has performed alongside the Geneva Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, the Montreal Metropolitan Orchestra, the Boston Philharmonic Orchestra, the Miami Philharmonic Orchestra, as well as the Transvaal Philharmonic Orchestra in Pretoria, Southern Africa. She has also performed on important stages in North America, Europe and Asia. Irina Mureșanu has received numerous awards at prestigious musical competitions such as the Montreal International Musical Competition or the ‘Queen Elizabeth’ International Music Competition. She has also won the International ‘Pro Musicis’ Award and the ‘Arthur Foote’ Prize from the Harvard Musical Association. Irina Mureșanu is also a specialist in chamber music. She is founding member of the Boston Trio and has been a member since 2002. She also performs alongside the Andover Chamber Music Society and the Boston Chamber Music Society and participates in numerous international chamber music festivals. At present she is teaching at the Boston Conservatory, as well as at Harvard University.

Jin Wang is an artist who has conducted more than 600 concerts at the music rack of renowned European orchestras such as the Copenhagen Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Stockholm Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Liverpool Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the Toscanini Philharmonic Orchestra in Italy, the Prague Symphony Orchestra (FOK), the Helsinki, Bergen and Stockholm Philharmonics, as well as the national orchestras of Taiwan, China, Singapore, Korea, Japan etc. The concerts or the opera performances conducted by Jin Wang have always generated enthusiastic comments from the numerous audience, of the musicians he has collaborated with and of the specialised press. Another aspect of his career is that he is also a composer. Tibet Impressions Suites or his more recent works, namely the Nokia Variations, Würzburg Night-watchman, New Year Hymn, Song from the Roof of the World have been acclaimed both on a European and an international level.
