Ludere - the album “Baden inedito” - Jazzy hour, February 16th, 2021
We are entering the world of Brazilian music again through a name that has represented the Sao Paulo scene and style for at least two generations. Baden Powell is one of those great names, essential for any relevant collection, an impressive instrumentalist who has enriched the repertoire of many soloists, in addition to the illustrious discography made with well-chosen instrumentalists. A legend, as it were, a signature frequently discovered on the most important titles of Brazilian music. At the same time, his son, Phillippe Baden Powell continued at the same level, using more the language of the times in which he worked. It took over the tradition, honoured the name and added an invigorating contemporary air. The perfect formula in which he worked is the quartet called Ludere, which in 2020 dedicated an album to senior Baden Powell, including in the repertoire some unrecorded themes, offered for interpretation by voices representing modern Brazilian music. Phillippe Baden Powell on piano, Rubinho Antunes on trumpet, Bruno Barbosa on bass and Daniel de Paula on drums, together with Vanessa Moreno and Fabiana Cozza form the group that recorded the album "Baden inedito", rewriting the great guitarist's songs in tune with the collective sound personality. Baden Powell was such a good instrumentalist that sometimes his compositions were not noticed to the same extent. His son emphasizes this repertoire and offers it to us in the best version on this excellent album.
