Gilad Hekselman/ Will Vinson/ Antinio Sanchez – the album 'Trio Grande' - Jazzy hour, January 12th, 2021

"Trio Grande" can be the debut title of a perfect trio, of a musical project that brings together three of the most inventive, fascinating and complex contemporary musicians, coming from the cultural interface of New York, where the rich tradition of jazz intersects with musical currents from all over the world. Saxophonist Will Vinson, guitarist Gilad Hekselman and drummer Antonio Sanchez felt their musical closeness from the first meeting. Everyone has a reputation as a super-instrumentalist, composer and group leader, but when they sang together, following the impulses stimulated by this trio formula, without bass, they surprised eachother with the unique creative direction they have drawn. They do not have in common just the language of jazz, but also the tendency to add new sounds and influences, to take everything a few steps forward. And this is how their collective effort materialized on the album "Trio Grande" the magical place where all those different elements were associated in a coherent whole. The repertoire emphasizes open-mindedness and unity in purpose. The music not only surprises with its beauty, but also with the immediately accessible clarity with which it was conceived, with the confidence with which the instrumentalists expose it, transforming the sophisticated language into a delightful audition.
