Shaun Martin, Matthew Ramsey, Mike Mitchell: album 'Three-O' - Jazzy Hour, February 9th, 2021

Shaun Martin clarified his status as a fabulous musician with his appearances with the group Snarky Puppy and again on the albums released under his own name, true masterclass-urid is modern jazz. The first detail that distinguishes him in the crowd of young musicians who present virtuosity is that no moment is ridiculed by the exclusive emphasis on technique. The joy with which he improvises and the accumulated warmth from the interaction of the three group instrumentalists extend our perception far beyond the amazement caused by virtuosity. The third solo album was released in 2020, is called "Three-O" and is recorded with bassist Matt Ramsey and drummer Mike Mitchell. Unlike the other two, "Three-O" extends to electronic keyboards, thus broadening the timbre spectrum, but retains the essence of the trio formula, with impeccable interplay and an incredible rhythm section. It is the kind of intense musical exposure, dominated by surprising, sophisticated moments but amplified by a disarming joy and a bright musicality. "Three-O" contains the essence of the contemporary jazz album, which must be distinguished by creativity, originality and emotion from a very generous offer of musical productions.
