Fergus McCreadie - 'Cairn' album - Jazzy hour, March 9th, 2021

We are once again pleased to meet a young Scottish musician, who is making a bright appearace on the contemporary European stage as a virtuoso bassist. His well-defined compositions convey passion and challenge the audience and the musicians involved alike. His thrilling and nuanced music shows original ideas and inspired improvisation. With his second album called "Cairn", Fergus McCreadie aims for international confirmation as an instrumentalist, composer and group leader.

The disc with fresh sound is inspired by the traditionand landscapes of native Scotland and has the freshness of sound reminiscent of The Bad Plus or EST manifested two decades ago. Jazz and classical music complement eachother energetically in the trio formula, with effortless transitions from impressionism to swing, ballads and bright themes regardless of tempo, united by collegially divided solos. It's an exciting mix of inspiration and vitality, as well as an ideal example of group communication. Obviously Fergus McCreadie and his trio have reached maturity and instrumental sophistication to open their way to global stage. At the beginning of 2021, we have one of the most attractive challenges.
