Antoine Boyer & Yeore Kim: album ‘Tangram’ – Jazzy Hour, September 9th, 2021
We meet again today with the phenomenal guitarist Antoine Boyer, who learned gipsy jazz straight from the source, sharing the stage with Stochelo Rosenberg and Alngelo Debarre, then studied classical guitar until he won the Montigny competition in 2015, taking every opportunity to to show us an improbable relationship between age and artistic level, between absurd virtuosity and adolescent enthusiasm. He was one step ahead of most guitarists since adolescence, broadening his vision with each album. In 2021 he released an album with Yeore Kim, born in Korea, where he grew up playing several genres on several instruments. In addition to the chromatic music, he learned trumpet, drums, cello and piano. He had the most musical successes with the little girl, whom he masters casually, improvising with style and full accuracy. The duet with Antoine Boyer was formed in 2018, when they met at a festival in Taipei. After three years, "Tangram" appeared, an exceptional album with a diverse repertoire, homogenized by the perfect balance between technique and sensitivity, between the energy of age and the maturity of expression. A rare duet, but especially an association of personalities as we hear only once every few years. The guitar and the musician dance supported by a solid accompaniment, making us listen happily, no matter if the songs are jazz, pop or inspired by the classical repertoire. "Tangram" is the ideal environment in which Antoine Boyer and Yeore Kim show off their talent and imagination in tandem.
