Isabella Lundgren – Look for the Silver Lining album – Jazzy hour, October 19th 2021

Isabella Lundgren was born during the winter solstice of 1987. Starting with that date, the sun shines for longer and longer until summer arrives. This is what we feel listening to her 2021 album Look for the Silver Lining. The 8th opus in her discography pays homage to Judy Garland and brings hope and happiness during a time when many people seem to lose these essential elements. Her repertoire is built from a catalogue of standard American pieces, the title song having been composed more than one hundred years ago. The concept of 'silver lining' - a ray of hope - originates from a 1634 John Milton poem titled Comus: A Mask Presented at Lodlow Castle and describes the bright outline that appears when the Sun or the Moon shine from behind the clouds. The imagery perfectly fits what Isabella Lundgren feels and offers through her singing. The album demonstrates a profound knowledge of American musical culture through the delicate approach in vocals and production, and sends a sign of trust in the strong and positive revival of the world after an uncertain and overwhelming time.
