Jan Lundgren, Emile Parisien and Lars Danielsson–the album 'Into The Night' – Jazzy hour, 12th of October 2021

There is a proven therapy that the jazz pianist expresses himself clearly in a trio when it comes to the transition to the soloistic expression from the interaction with instruments. The confirmation comes from hundreds of exceptional albums in which the piano, the bass and the drums present us the flexible, balanced and perfect form made to offer us the whole spectrum of frequencies and expressions. Naturally, the formula can be modified by keeping the particularity, as long as the communication between the musicians is direct, spontaneous, and omnipresent. An ideal example is "Into the Night", the album in a concert recorded by the pianist Jan Lundgren, along with the bassist Lars Danielsson and the saxophonist Emile Parisien. The trio is keeping a constant direction, in constant development, with the musicians who are open to the inspiration of each second. These are the qualities considered by Lundgren suitable in a structure of an open-minded, free, subtle and connected trio. He proved that in the classic formula he developed in 1995, in the project"Mare Nostrum", as well as in this magnificent album, treated as a new challenge and a possibility to extend the expression of the game played as a trio. Emile Parisien appeared in the moment when the drummer from Lundgren's formula could not come to a concert due to the restrictions caused by the pandemic. The trio met one day before the concert, they chose and rehearsed some suitable tracks and offered us one more proof that some artists have to meet at some stage so that they can cumulate their qualities in such memorable moments. The years of friendship and common pathst hrough the musical world do not always guarantee the opportunity of some intimate, meaningful and remarkable collaborations. The professional musicians know that the balance between living by singing and following a dream project shifts towards maintaining a roof over the head.
