Adi Stoenescu: album "Waking Light", Jazzy Hour, 16th of November
Today I have the pleasure to present to you two brilliant albums composed by Romanian artists, who are active and inspired members of a stage that is now more than ever in need of diversity, of options available to a growing public, eager for quality. Not only their musical achievement is brilliant, but also their attitude towards promoting their work, their modern approach to the international stage, and its contemporary character, to which they adapted. We will begin with Adi Stoenescu, an excellent composer and keyboardist, who carefully selected a new ensemble, with the balance of his pieces in view, after the success he enjoyed with the Krisper group. The creativity is apparent from the very first piece of the 'Waking Light' album. This creativity is supported by the instrumental level and by the mature exposition of the details and of the moments in which the instruments assist each other in a recomforting interplay. The complexity cultivated on all levels doesn't diminish the musical fluency, the inspired solos are interpolated with fresh sonorous elements, perfectly adapted to the contemporary landscape, which is constantly changing, and the repertoire is unified through the solid groove and the stylistic clarity. Adi Stoenescu, saxophonist Arnau Garrofe, bassist Mihail Ivanov, percussionist Borislav Petrov and soloist Marta Popovici (guest on the 'Underwater' piece), elegantly present their artistic intentions and values through an impeccably made album, suited for the present music world. 'Waking Light' conveys an intelligent vision and a feeling of cordiality, which affirms the idea that music remains the same, only the way of expressing and listening to it changes.
