Aurelia Vișovan – Pianoforte – CD review, October 12th 2022
Player of piano, harpsichord and pianoforte, winner of the 2019 edition of the prestigious competition Musica Antiqua in Bruges, Aurelia Vișovan is one of the Romanian musicians appreciated worldwide. After studying at the Gheorghe Dima Academy of Music in Cluj-Napoca and the Music University inVienna, she constantly played in recitals and concerts both on modern pianos and historical instruments, in music halls like Musikverein Vienna, the Berlin Philharmonic, Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, the Radio Hall and the Romanian Athenaeum. Presently a piano teacher at the Music University in Nurnberg, Aurelia Vișovan released this autumn, on September 2nd, an album at the Belgian label Passacaille Records, the CD also being included in the "2022 Records of the year" project for Radio Romania Musical. The album includes Sonata D 958 in C minor by Franz Schubert and Sonata No. 6 in D minor by Carl Czerny, the latter recorded for the first time on a pianoforte.
About the two sonatas, Aurelia Vișovan says, in the presentation of the album, that "they are very innovative in different ways. Czerny used his mastery to go beyond the borders of his time; and Schubert does it with the purpose of eloquence, although technically his music is as difficult. The subtle and constant way this music's atmosphere changes demands an incredible delicacy in performing", says piano player Aurelia Vișovan, who recorded the Sonata in C minor by Franz Schubert on the pianoforte, a replica of the instrument built in 1815 in Vienna by Jakob Bertsche. In this version, Schubert's piece from 1828 sounds authentic, just like the music at that time. And Aurelia Vișovan, without using the dynamic and expressive possibilities of the modern piano, shows that she is a remarkable player, technically and artistically, finding the essence of this refined music.
