Pianist Saskia Giorgini. Consolations album - CD Review, June 9th, 2023

Franz Liszt - Liebesträume

On June 9th 2023, the latest album recorded by Saskia Giorgini, an extraordinary Italian pianist with a beautiful international career, was released at the Pentatone Music house. The artist loves George Enescu's music; in 2019, she recorded an album of songs written by the Romanian composer, whom she is very fond of, being one of her favorite composers, as she said in an interview for Radio Romania Muzical on the occasion of her concert on the George Enescu Festival stage in 2021. Besides this CD released in 2019, Saskia Giorgini has recorded four other albums until now, the last two dedicated to Franz Liszt's works - in 2021, it was the Harmonies Poetique et religieuses album, which received the Diapason d'Or award, and now the musician presents Consolations, on the same line as the piece list with the same name, Liszt. The album has three other caprice-valses, two legends, valse-impromptu S. 213 and Liebestraume cycle for piano. When referring to this program, Saskia Giorgini says: "Such incredible joy spending a lot of time working on such varied pieces, composed by a genius man, Franz Liszt. The technical challenges were not a big issue to me. They are there indeed and solving them satisfied me. But studying this music in depth is more important in order to reveal the composer's deeply sentimental side and align it with myself, and finally embrace it."

Winner of the Mozart Competition in Salzburg in 2016, but also of other international awards, Saskia Giorgini is complimented by critics for her impeccable technique, touching sound and the phrasing full of imagination and pure melody. She received compliments on major stages across Europe, North America and Asia, having collaborated with artists such as Janine Jansen, Gilles Apap, Ian Bostridge and Martin Fröst for her chamber programs.
