Album premiere, released on the 19th of January
On the 19th of January, the Upheaval album was released. It was recorded at OUR Recordings record label by cellist Janne Fredens and pianist Soren Rastogi, two of Denmark's most valued musicians. They are a couple and they have a beautiful artistic collaboration; they carry out important projects on concert stages and in recording studios. They have given recitals in renowned halls in Europe and the United States, won prizes in the Danish Radio Chamber Music Competition, and they are musical directors of the OdsherredsChamber Music Festival, where they collaborate with talented young musicians from Denmark.
In addition, the couple promote women composers. To this effect, last June they recorded an album of compositions for cello and piano by Henriette Bosmans, Dora Pejacevic, Lili Boulanger and Nadia Boulanger. The compositions came out between 1911 and 1918.
The album is called Upheaval, a word that means change or transformation, featuring four compositions for cello and piano written by women composers during the First World War. The performers' goal was to highlight the diversity and stylistic variety of the compositions and it relates to the tumultuous period of the 1920s. This is illustrated by contrasting creations that come from the same era, but from different geographical areas, shedding light on the extraordinary talent of these composers.
