Pianist Mathieu Gaudet. Works by Franz Schubert - CD Review. August 17^th, 2025

An album released on August 22^nd, 2025, composed by the Canadian pianist Mathieu Gaudet. A 48-year-old pianist who studied music in his home country and the United States of America, but who, starting at the age of 27, also studied medicine, which he practices to support his family.

A pianist who set out to record the complete works of Franz Schubert through the Canadian label "Analekta", and who has reached volume number 11, which includes the fourth part of Sonata no.2 by Franz Schubert, a revision done by Mathieu Gaudet himself, based on the Paul Badura Skoda and Martin Tirimo versions. Schubert himself had only completed approximately 200 measures of this piece.

A musician and doctor, Mathieu Gaudet stands out through his special sensibility, his nuanced touch and the clear affinity with Franz Schubert's world of lights and shadows. This is the reason why we chose to listen to this album on Radio România Muzical, especially the 4 impromptus D 935.
