Johannes Brahms - A German Requiem, Op. 45 - Music box, November 3rd, 2025

An album officially set for release on November 28th, a production by the Accentus Music label featuring Johannes Brahms's A German Requiem.

Cast: Kyrgyz soprano Katharina Konradi, German baritone Konstantin Krimmel, the Gaechinger Cantorey Choir, and the Luxembourg Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Hans Christoph Rademann.

I chose this recording for several reasons. Firstly, for the value of the interpretation - choir, soloists, and orchestra as a unified whole, a well-thought-out structure with a meditative aura created by the conductor. A music that we need, to remind us of the meaning of life, of consolation and light - because Brahms chose texts from the Bible, but without using the traditional text of the mass.

Furthermore, I was curious to listen once more to the voice of baritone Konstantin Krimmel, who speaks Romanian because his mother is Romanian from Alba, and he himself spent all his childhood holidays in Romania. Today, at 32, Konstantin Krimmel is one of the world's top singers, equally convincing in both lied and opera. He is a member of the ensemble at the Bavarian State Opera in Munich and has recorded several CDs of lieder, as well as vocal-symphonic works that have enjoyed international recognition and acclaim.
