Antonio Vivaldi - Violin Concertos RV 233, 282 and 372; Concerto for Two Violins RV 512 (Daniele Orlando)
Premiere album, released on April 24th
This record was released by Arcana Records and features the famous violinist Giuliano Carmignola, a musician passionate about Antonio Vivaldi's work. To this Italian composer, the violinist dedicated numerous CDs considered to be icons of the international discography. With his new album called "Vivaldi 100", Giuliano Carmignola exceeds the threshold of recording 100 violin concertos signed by the prolific Baroque composer, added to a discography which already includes several unpublished works, especially from Antonio Vivaldi's late period of creation.
For this recording, Giuliano Carmignola chose a violin specially made for him by the Catalan luthier David Bagué i Soler, an instrument which contributes to the sound quality, contrapuntal development, and finesse of the soloist's performance. And the orchestra which accompanied him in these recordings is the experienced Italian String Orchestra I Solisti Aquilani, founded in 1968 by Vittorio Antonellini and led since 2013 by Maurizio Cocciolito, the artistic director of the orchestra.
Giuliano Carmignola is one of the most acclaimed violinists in the world, and he has performed on important stages, collaborating with conductors such as Daniele Gatti, Frans Brüggen, Andrea Marcon, or Christopher Hogwood. The 75-year-old musician, specialist in the Baroque creation, has recorded dozens of albums, some being rewarded with prestigious awards such as Diapason d'Or and Choc du Monde. The charming music of Antonio Vivaldi plays an important part in the discography of the Italian violinist. This new album released by Giuliano Carmignola includes 13 of the 230 violin concertos written by the brilliant pre-Classical composer.
