Händel - 250 on Radio Romania Music

Radio Romania Music pays a tribute to the composer Georg Friedrich Händel in the Händel - 250 serial, broadcast between April13th - 17th, 2009, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

On April 14th, 250 years are commemorated from the loss of the composer Georg Friedrich Händel, surely one of the most important composers in the history of music, one of the "pillars" of the musical Pre-classicism, next to Johann Sebastian Bach.

Starting February, 2009, Radio Romania Music has initiated the Händel -250 project: every Sunday the maestro's lyrical creations can be listened to, the series ending on April 26th.

Around the commemorative date of Händel's death, the Händel -250 project comes out with a new layout: for five days, the audience can enjoy a series of broadcasts in which the most important biographic moments are evoked and fragments of his most representative work will be listened to.

Moreover, those who will listen to these broadcasts will also have access to the works especially composed for the project of the European Broadcasting Union called Händel in new clothes: composers from nine European countries have written works inspired by a themes such as the one from Wassermusik by Händel, including Romanian composer Dan Dediu, whose piece of work Rain Music - Händel in Macondo for tarragon, orchestra and magnetic tape, will be available to be listened as an absolute premiere on Monday, April 13th 2009. Dan Dediu's work is the result of a request from Radio Romania Music. The recording of the work took place in Radio Romania Music's studios, in June, 2008, the protagonists being Adrian Petrescu (prime oboe player of The "George Enescu" Philharmonic Orchestra), The National Radio Orchestra and conductor Horia Andreescu.

For those passionate about Baroque music, but also for those who want to know better the creative personality of Georg Friedrich Händel - a series of broadcasts by Marina Nedelcu and Alina Velea.
