Radio Romania Music – 2009-2010

Starting with the 5th of October, Radio Romania Music offers its listeners a new program grid with new programmes - dedicated especially to the young audience - as well as a new website: muzical.radioromania.ro.

After the George Enescu Festival marathon - a suited description of the month of September at Radio Romania Music - with no less than fifty-nine broadcasts of live concerts, the only Romanian classic, jazz&more station is launching on the 5th of October its new program grid, available until the summer of 2010.

The new shows are called A Portrait of the Composer, Vocal Palette, Cinemusic, Romanian Post-War Music, Successful music stories, 11 decades of contemporary music,, programmes joining the already existing Musica viva, Drivetime, Prelude to a melomaniac's afternoon or Musical Europe Today.

Every morning, from Monday to Friday - at 9:30 - you'll enjoy a series of 30 minutes which sets out to familiarize its unspecialized audience - especially young people - with the biographies of great composers of music history: Beethoven, Mozart, Bach, Vivaldi, Brahms, etc. A Portrait of the Composer gives its listeners access to essential information, sprinkled with a lot of music. And because this series is sure to awake the interest of everyone wishing to hear quality music, we have an afternoon rerun at 18:30.

For the same unspecialized young audience, we have the project Stained glasses - a weekly programme (Tuesday at 19:00; rerun on Saturday at 15:00) giving you the opportunity to know the history of the major musical European centres. It is a project that will cover three seasons; the 2009-2010 season will offer our audience the chance to get a thorough view of the Italian, Spanish and English musical cultures. The show's host is going to be Ioana Marghita.

Cinemusic will get you better acquainted with film music starting with the 5th of October. Every Sunday, at 10:00, film critic Antoaneta Banu will give you the most enchanting soundtracks of all times, with an emphasis on the latest novelties.

For those who want to know the secrets behind great performers and composers, whether Romanian or foreign, the programme Successful music stories (Sunday at 10:30) and its hosts Monica Isacescu and Stefan Costache will delight you with a spicy dialogue and a complete musical portrait of every person interviewed.

For our specialized audience, we have two new programmes: Romanian Post-War Music (Sunday at 15:00) - a weekly series signed by Prof. Ph.D. Valentina Sandu Dediu, based on the volume Romanian music between 1944 and 2000 for which she was given the 2008 Berlin-Brandenburg Academy award and 11 decades of contemporary music (Sunday at 22:30) - a series of programmes hosted by Ruxandra Arzoiu in which we will explore the history of universal music from the 1900s up to the present.

Starting with the 5th of October, those wishing to listen to Radio Romania Music online will have access to a new version of the site Radio Romania Music, (muzical.radioromania.ro) a friendlier and more informative one; there will also be an English version of the site, along with the first ondemand stream, the first alternative online Radio Romania Music station: Opera mia, where listeners can access their favorite operas from the large playlist.

The successful prgorammes from the previous grids have extended their broadcast space: Musica viva - the matinal clasic, jazz&more can be listened to from Monday until Friday between 7:15 and 9:30, and Drivetime - companion to those stressed out by traffic, but also by the terrible city rhythm, between 17:00 and 18:30, from Monday until Friday.

The children will meet again with Arietta and Pocchetina at The Lesson of the little melomaniac (Saturday at 11:00), a bimonthly show which alternates with the history of ballet told to children, Steps on notes.

For our more mature listeners, we have interviews with famous people belonging to Romanian cultural life as melomaniacs: The universe of Music (Saturday, at 16:00). And for our jazz fans, we provide a wide range of choices: The jazzman profession (Monday-Friday, at 12:30), Jazzy hour (Thursday, at 19:00), Midnight blues (Friday, at 23:30), Jazz Collection (Saturday and Sunday, at 18:10), Jazz at noon (Sunday, 12:30).

As before, Radio Romania Music is the only Romanian station offering free tickets to famous international concert halls, to events which host the most important performers. Musical Europe Today (Monday-Friday, 21:00) and Evening at the Opera (Saturday, 19:00) offers you live shows, at least once a week; from December 2009 until May 2010 Radio Romania Music will broadcast live the concert from the Metropolitan Opera of New York City, as it has already accustomed its listeners for the last years.
