Live from La Scala and the Metropolitan

At Radio Romania Music, for opera lovers, December means the debut of the season at La Scala Theatre in Milan, but also the debut of the season of live transmissions from the New York Metropolitan Opera House.

On Monday, December 7th, starting with 18:50, Radio Romania Music will broadcast live the show that opens the 2009-2010 season at one of the most elitist and important opera theatres in the world: La Scala in Milan. The show you can listen to is opera Carmen by Georges Bizet, conducted by the famous Daniel Barenboim. The leading role is performed by Georgian mezzo-soprano Anita Rachvelishvili, one of "the revelations of 2008", as she was called by the specialized media. The live transmission is commented by Luminita Arvunescu, Radio Romania Music producer, and dr. Stephan Poen, a connoisseur of the realities governing the tumultuous world of the Italian lyrical theatre.

On Saturday, December 12th, starting with 19:30, Radio Romania Music hosts the debut of the eleventh season of live transmissions from The Metropolitan Opera House in New York. The most important lyrical theatre on the American continent and one of the major theatres in the world, "The Met" validates careers, creates trends, so that listening to shows broadcast live from New York can only be a privilege for any music lover.

Specially created in order to be broadcast live in Europe (due to time zone differences), the Metropolitan Opera proposes a season whose shows start at noon (in New York) and for which radio broadcasting rights have been negotiated (by means of the European Broadcasting Union), as well as television broadcasting rights for hundreds of cinemas around the world.
